In 2021, the Mediterranean region of Antalya, Turkey proposed RGB LED flood lighting for 3.4 kilometers of cliff faces as an exercise in ‘increasing nighttime appeal’, this was met with protests from environmental advocates and shelved by authorities. Recently, the project has been revived with as much as 10 million Turkish Lira (~ $278,500 US) to install projectors and lighting equipment, science advisors to the government are once again raising alarms.
