Data collected at the Bisei Astronomical Observatory between 2006 and the present shows that the switch to from legacy lamps to LED in neighbouring towns has kept the region at a 4 on the Bortle Scale (typical for a rural to suburban transition), despite local efforts to maintain light pollution ordinances.
