Henderson, NC Passes New Lighting Ordinances

The first ordinance approved by City Council will limit backlight that crosses property lines, prohibit uplight of any kind, and ban floodlighting. There are exceptions for construction projects, special occasions, and approved ornamental lighting and signage. NEw construction must show documents of planned compliance immediately, Council has yet to set a timetable for existing buildings to comply. The second ordinance will mandate shielding on all street lighting.
