Turning on the Lighting at the AZ Border Wall Would be “Devastating”

A survey from the United States Center for Biological Diversity has found that 1,802 stadium-style lights placed along 60 miles of the Arizona-Mexico border would do severe harm to every form of wildlife in those regions. The regions in question include 3 wildlife reserves, 1 wildlife reserve, and one national monument. The authors of the survey demand that light be removed and current barriers be replaced with ones that allow animal passage.

A proposed copper and nickel mine in northeastern Minnesota has prompted a review into lighting and noise rules for construction near the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness. The state Department of Natural Resources now has 18 months to define rules for the site.

Oncologists and surgeons at the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health have determined that pancreatic cancer tissue has ‘substantially’ attenuated circadian clock response. The arhythmic clock accelerates cancer growth. This is in contrast to other studies that show that disrupted circadian rhythms are a contributing factor in the development of cancer.
